Celebrate Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day and Parks Canada’s centennial by joining in the 2nd Annual Ride the Red Rock Parkway. Red Rock Parkway will be closed to all vehicle traffic and you can ride as far as your interest takes you - just a short distance or all the way to Red Rock Canyon and back (30 km round-trip). There will be snack stations and a shuttle graciously provided by Waterton Outdoor Adventures. After the ride, join us at Pass Creek for a centennial celebration BBQ and draw prizes. Helmets are mandatory for anyone under 18, and highly recommended for everyone else. We encourage children to come with a legal guardian. The ride starts at 9am at Pass Creek picnic area. Be there a few minutes ahead of time so you’re ready to ride.

The Alberta Tourism (Alto) Awards Committee has named Beth Russell-Towe of Waterton as recipient of the 2011 Alto Ambassador award for her outstanding contributions to Alberta's tourism industry.
For more than 20 years, Russell-Towe has developed an impressive string of highly successful, internationally recognized sustainable tourism initiatives in Alberta, including The Trail of the Great Bear, the Waterton Wildflower Festival, Waterton Wildlife Weekend, and the Crown of the Continent. She will be awarded her Alto Ambassador Award at the Alto Awards Gala, Oct. 24 at the Travel Alberta Industry Conference at The Fairmont Banff Springs.
"Beth Russell-Towe's contributions to the provincial tourism industry and the ambassador spirit she has demonstrated throughout her career makes her an outstanding role model," said Allen R. Gibson, member of the Strategic Tourism Marketing Council and Chair of the volunteer industry committee which oversees the awards program and selects the Alto Ambassador recipient.
The Alto Ambassador award, sponsored by the Calgary Airport Authority, will be presented to Russell-Towe at the Alto Awards Gala on Oct. 24, in conjunction with the 11th annual Travel Alberta Industry Conference at The Fairmont Banff Springs.
