People travel from all over the world to hike the trails in Waterton Lakes National Park, which says a lot about the caliber of our hikes, the quality of our trails and the one of a kind scenic beauty that Waterton Park offers. But even the gentlest and most well traveled slopes require preparation and thought.

Parks Canada urges all hikers to:

take individual responsibility for planning their trips and hiking safely
stop by the visitor centre to register for hikes and receive current trail conditions
inform themselves of any trail cautions or closures

You will increase your odds of a safe hike, decrease your disturbance to park wildlife and heighten your own sense of safety and enjoyment of the natural world around you.
